Our Story
Guinea Fowl Africa Safaris is intentionally small.
This allows every safari to receive the time and attention it deserves, from the earliest planning stages through to the final day of travel.
Safaris shaped by local knowledge and genuine care
Guinea Fowl Africa Safaris was founded to offer a more personal way to experience East Africa. One shaped by deep local knowledge, thoughtful planning and genuine care for both guests and the places they visit.
Baluku is the heat of Guinea Fowl Africa Safaris. A highly experienced local guide who has spent more than a decade guiding travellers across Uganda, Rwanda and Tanzania. Over the years, he has developed not only an intimate understanding of the region’s wildlife and landscapes, but also a strong sense of how to create journeys that feel balanced, meaningful and unhurried.
For Baluku, guiding is not simply about finding wildlife or moving from place to place. It is about reading the rhythm of each journey - knowing when to pause, when to explore further, and how to adapt each day so that the experience is remarkable.
From guiding to creating Guinea Fowl Africa Safaris
After many years working as a guide, Baluku saw how often safaris were shaped by rigid schedules rather than by the people travelling. Guinea Fowl Africa Safaris was created to change that approach.
Every journey begins with a conversation. By understanding what guests are most curious about - whether that is wildlife, landscapes, culture, or simply travelling at a gentler pace. Baluku designs safaris that reflect individual interests rather than fixed templates.
Because each safari is personally planned and guided, there is space for flexibility and quiet moments as well as memorable wildlife encounters. Routes can be adjusted, time can be taken, and experiences can unfold naturally rather than being rushed.
Community matters deeply to Baluku. Travel, when done thoughtfully, can bring positive benefits to the people who live alongside these remarkable landscapes. Guinea Fowl Safaris supports local communities in quiet, meaningful ways while sharing the richness of the region with those who visit.
Impactful Community Projects
We live and work in the same communities that our journeys pass through, so supporting them is part of our day-to-day. A portion of each safari is put back into a small number of local projects that we are directly involved in. Most of this work focuses on education, access to clean water, and practical ways to create income.
We currently support children through school scholarships and contribute to the building and upkeep of community classrooms. We’re involved in safe water initiatives that improve access within nearby villages, and in small, practical programmes such as tailoring, where pedal-powered sewing machines allow people to work without relying on electricity. We also support projects that provide reusable sanitary pads, helping girls stay in school.
Alongside this, we contribute to conservation work in the areas we operate in. As part of each journey, a tree is planted — a simple contribution, but one that adds up over time. If it feels appropriate, there is sometimes the chance to briefly visit one of the schools or projects during a trip — a way to understand a little more about daily life here.
This work is ongoing. Some projects are small, some take years, and most evolve as needs change
